Here a small story about the Zevenheuvelenloop which I have run on November 11, 2001.
It went very well this time. The best time (1:16:30) that I had for this run was in 1993.
This time it was 1:19:29. When you consider increase to account for because of my age
increase it amounts to an almost same achievement and that while I did not any extensive
training. The weather was nice, with a temperature of about 10 degrees. The photos on the left come from the internet. They were for free and that is why they have a watermark. But I considered the quality good enough to place them here on my homepage. Above there is a picture with the height info. There are only a few steep slopes and further more it is so that the last 2 1/2 kilometers are only down. The last 5 km I have run the fastest (25:16). The first 5 in 26:52 and the second in 27:21. This time there were almost 15000 runners. |

Rotterdam Marathon![]() |

Above the start of the Marathon of Rotterdam on april 28, 1997.
The white arrow points to me. I have chosen this run for a full marathon because of the flat course and few turns in the road. Running along the roads it was very noticeble that in Rotterdam they do everything to make the course as good as possible. Holes were filled up, where the road was unequal it was flattened and there were trucks along the road against the wind. |

At the left also a photo of the Rotterdam Marathon. I am running here for three and a half hours, so somewhere between 35 and 40 km. Until 35 km everything went very well and I thought that I would make it within 4 hours. But unfortunately I was struck by tireness. Also I had cramp in my leg for which I stopped about 5 minutes. |
